A Different Way to travel Hong Kong | 5D4N | Day 01

This may not be your usual HK journey

The theme of this trip centered around eating and hiking.
As both of us were guys, shopping was minimal. Flying on Scoot from SG to HK airport, we arrived around 8.00am and deposited our heavy luggage inside this mall called Citygate Outlets at Tung Chung. It is just a 10-min bus ride away from HK airport. There are 3 reasons why we come here first: 1) Breakfast 2) Deposit luggage 3) Proximity to our next stop - Ngong Ping 360

Lockers at Citygate basement

Tsui Wah –
Scallion Noodles, Hot Milk Tea

As we were VERY hungry, we settled breakfast at Tsui Wah, safe bet for a decent traditional HK meal. The noodles were springy, and the tea has the HK aroma, recommend that you try Tsui Wah at least once! After breakfast, we proceeded to Ngong Ping 360 at Lantau Island. To get there, you can take a cable car which is walking distance from Citygate. Bought tickets over the counter and proceeded to take cable car towards Lantau. Here’s what went on:

Weekends mean queueing longer than usual

Majestic view but scary to see some CCs swaying in the winds!

Greenhouse effect, feelin' hot in da CC!

After a 30-min CC ride, we reached Lantau Island! It was 10.00am and we can feel the heat from the sun. (PS: Caps and shades are impt!)

Resident cows which you will not miss in Lantau

The Lantau Buddha Statue

Tai O - Speed boat ride to tour the floating village

"
Chicken Shit Tea Candy"; chewy, sweet, surprisingly tasty!

Tai O is a 15-min bus ride down the hill from Lantau CC station. It is a fishing village and offers views of old HK, worthwhile visiting once!

Ngong Ping 360 occupied us for almost 6h and at 4.00pm, we brought our exhausted bodies from Lantau back to HK. Retrieved our luggage from Citygate lockers and headed to our lodging for 4 nights, Sleep Inn Hotel (not really a hotel though). It is located in Tsim Sha Tsui, Mirador Mansion, close proximity to TST MTR station. Cost is $100/night, nothing to shout about, just a decent place for sleeping.

Cramped, bad view, but clean though

So cramped, you can brush-shit-shower in same position!

Next up was dinner –
Roasted Duck & Char Siew Rice! I swear it is one of the bestest I had although the shop isn’t any famous. It is along the streets of Tsim Sha Tsui, just behind iSquare shopping mall. So sorry I forgot the shop name!

Tender, juicy (TASTY!)

After our stomachs were filled, we headed from our dinner place to Avenue Of Stars on foot as it's only a 10-min walk away. The AOS at Tsim Sha Tsui Waterfront is your perfect place to take photos of bright skyscraper buildings and enjoy the cooling sea breeze. There is also a lights show that commences at 8.00pm, good-to-see for first timers albeit nothing special. Last but not least, we strode to view the main highlight at AOS - palm imprints from renowned celebrities over a long stretch of walking path beside the harbor.

Bruce Lee says, "WATER!"
